How often do you hear this question? Wellness has become a part of our vocabulary, a part of our lives, but still when somebody asks: “What is wellness?” we struggle to find the answer.
There have been various attempts to define wellness. NWI says wellness is “an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence”. For Don Ardell “wellness is first and foremost a choice to assume responsibility for the quality of your life.” And John Travis in his Wellness Workbook has six definitions of wellness:
Wellcome, in our courses and lives, follows the 12 dimensions of wellness from John Travis. Many definitions of wellness and even more theories of healthy life are to be tried out before one chooses the right one for herself. We have done this job for you and so far the concept described in John Travis´s Wellness Workbook remains at the heart of our philosophy and approach.
Unlike many other concepts, 12 dimensions of wellness are ready to be used here and now and they are asvalid as today as tomorrow. The below mentioned topics can be discussed with youngsters as with students, managers or seniors. We all breathe, move, have close relationships and need some purpose in life (and much more).
